Rachel Akers, (born in Boston, MA) received her BFA in Photography and Art History at Massachusetts College of Art and Design with academic honors. Devoted to her creative process having gained experience in many different mediums; painting, illustration, sculpting, book-binding, darkroom processing, digital media, and photography. Recently involved herself with various art restoration projects, including an apprenticeship in Italy restoring a 16th century ceiling fresco, and currently does freelance photography throughout the Eastern United States. Enjoys learning about ancient civilizations, cultural distinctions, and humanity as a whole. These examples reflect in her photo work as a globe trotting enthusiast and multi-faceted explorer.

 

Rachel's awards include The Boston Preservation Alliance photography exhibit (2011), Morton R. Godine Travel scholarship to Egypt (2010), the Art of Excellence award (1999), and an artist scholarship from Chester College of New England (1999).
